The road, the map and the journey

There are many moments when we are so caught with whatever we are doing or whatever we are feeling that we fully identify with it and it becomes the centre of gravity of our world and everything starts to revolve around those “external” things. And then sometimes we get a little break from this carousel and we get a glimpse that we are moving in a larger picture, and the “me” is on a road, it’s coming from somewhere and appears to be moving on this road. But the origin and more importantly the destination seem obscure, hidden well out of sight. We sometimes feel anxious about it - after all if we are indeed moving, where exactly are we going ?…And strangely enough, sometimes the very same move between 2 points seems to be “forwards” and sometimes “backwards” and sometimes “sideways”- what changes is just our feeling depending on the time point and frame of mind...

Obviously the problem is that we don’t really have a map together with an “SPS” (self positioning system…). Both are needed. If we have a map, even a good one, but we have no idea where we are, it’s no good. We may even get in serious trouble - imagine driving in one city following the part of the map depicting another city…In fact it is much safer the other way - even with no general “map” as such, if our self awareness is very good, and because the most important parts of the map mirror our internal cordinates, we can find our way around even if a bit more laboriously. Of course, once we “acquire” both the map and the “SPS”, we are in best position to accept the destination, choose a path and monitor how we are doing. This is what Self Realization and the integrated knowledge of Sahaja Yoga gives everyone who practices it - all in a gentle and individualized package above all commercial interests.

And then we still have to learn to make our way forward as well as to enjoy the journey. Our inner being is so beautiful and intricate that it takes time to fully absorb the joy from all the aspects that are doing very well. It also takes time for us to discover what we need to cleanse, strengthen and balance and then a bit of will and perseverance to see it through. All of this makes up our individual journeys, which are never exactly the same though many times appear quite similar. And then our subjective experiences are yet another layer, as they are coloured by our previous aims, attachments, bits of ego, etc. As time goes by and we slowly detach from all of those, the individual colours get closer and closer and our experience becomes really universal - pure joy !
