Joyful gravity
Across centuries and millennia a number of great figures guided us through the many illusions and temptations of this world and made corrections to our collective behaviour in certain times and places. They connected with the people around them and commanded their respect and following through a special kind of power that is born in the space between our second and third chakra. This area, delimited by the movement of the second chakra around the third, is called in Sanskrit as the “Bhavasagara”, literally the “ocean of illusion“, called also as the “Void” in our subtle system. Those 2 chakras deal with a lot of our day to day activities and even more so in what the interactions with matter are concerned. To keep in the middle path of evolution and avoid going to either left or right side with their pitfalls, one needs to develop the power to fully understand, balance and guide oneself. This power we call as the Master or Guru principle from the Sanskrit word that means a true spiritual teacher.
Like many other words and concepts who saw their meanings seriously altered and distorted in the modern times, the meaning of “guru” has become hardly recognizable nowadays. Anyone who seems to have a little bit of worldly expertise at something can be called a guru. Anyone who pretends to have any spiritual “knowledge” can and would very much like to be called as guru, even if their life is in every aspect the opposite of spirituality and their “teaching” system is just a giant business. Shri Mataji has talked countless times about how difficult is to remember and accept that “Guru” cannot be anyone other than a person through which the pure Self / Spirit shines, who is beyond material attachments and able to guide others towards Self-Realization. The great Teachers of humanity have displayed a full range of outward positions, from king to living on alms, to further show that judging the appearances is of no use at all in this matter.
They also showed total similarity in their integrity, selflessness, complete detachment from matter as well as command over it, complete oneness with the Self and the Divine Power as well as complete enlightened faith in that connection. It was said thousands of years ago that the root and essence of this personality is divine innocence. Be it our emotional, action or evolutionary powers, innocence is their purest essence and thus it manifests throughout all the aspects of the subtle system and through it in all of our life. When the pure innocence flows through our Void area, it unites all those principles and creates the joyful gravity which attracts all those who aim higher and repels our baser tendencies and the ones who favour them. At the highest level it takes the form of the Guru, the one can balance and guide people in their ascent and help them achieve Self-Realization.
This is a state that one reaches by spiritual ascent and it cannot be declared or conferred. It has always been considered the greatest opportunity to meet and be able to truly imbibe teaching from such a person. Amazingly enough, nowadays one has the unprecedented chance to actively progress towards the state of a master, by fully mastering oneself through cultivating and deepening the state of Self-Realization. This is the blessing of the modern times, the balancing act to the rather wild world we seem to live in...
