The sense of beauty

How many of us have ever wondered how come we perceive beauty ? And how come the entire creation around us is so beautiful, in a way that universally speaks to all mankind? We haven’t inherited this from our animal lineage, as much as we can tell. And for all we know the perception of beauty came to us a very long time ago, tens of thousands of years ago.

And it was not about survival. Animals and plants can be very successful survivors without it. All evidence points to an intrinsic human capacity that is meant for helping our inner evolution. And that sense of beauty has been used in amazing ways. Not only for works of art universally recognized as beautiful, but for science as well. One of the fundamental equations in physics was written by Paul Dirac who felt is had to be beautiful because creation is beautiful.

At a pure level, that sense of beauty is meant to steer us towards the universal values. Mona Lisa is beautiful because was painted by a realized artist who captured the essence of motherliness in her smile. Mozart’s works, the equations of Dirac and Einstein and many other human works are also beautiful in a universal sense because they reflect the harmony and beauty of the creation itself. And that is reflected in the energy coefficient that they emit and which is perceived unconsciously until self realization and becomes conscious afterwards. In so doing it also greatly increases both our enjoyment as well as the deep understanding of true beauty, including the all the marvels of nature.

That conscious perception also allows us to steer clear of artificial and / or negative things, which is no small achievement either. This evolution of our awareness is triggered by the enlightenment of our second chakra. As it progressively clears and strengthens it makes us better and better at perceiving that beauty as well as producing a little bit of our own, just as  many people that practice Sahaja Yoga found out over the years when they suddenly started and became successful at anything from arts to writing to a whole new unexpected career. We all have this potential inside our subtle system, it simply needs the nourishing attention of our Kundalini and, of course, a touch of practice!
